CHESS CLUB
The John Muir Chess Club, run by Muir parent Thea Mercouffer, meets Thursday afternoons after Early Dismissal for four weeks each semester. Dates and location TBA. All students and levels are welcome; no experience required. A fee is sometimes requested to cover the cost of a guest teacher. Parent volunteers needed! ELEMENTAL STRINGS ORCHESTRA
Elemental Strings is a beginning strings orchestra program that meets Friday afternoons at Lincoln Middle School. Forty students (mostly 5th graders), chosen by audition from District elementary schools including Muir, receive instruction from a team of specialized educators, and perform three concerts each year.
