OPPORTUNITES FOR PTA INVOLVEMENT
Meetings The PTA executive board meets the first or second Wednesday of each month (see Calendar for meeting dates on page 21) at 6:30p.m. in the Media Center. All, including non-boardmembers, are welcome.PTA general meetings are held three times during the school year (Oct. 11, Jan. 10, May 9), at 7:00p.m. in the Media Center. At these meetings, reports from the principal, the staffl iaison, and PTA event chair persons keep members informed about changes, issues, and need sat Muir. PTA activities are planned, and parent concerns are discussed. Free childcare is provided.
Membership The PTA membership drive takes place in the fall. Our goal is 100 percent participation! There is a $9 fee to join the Muir PTA. Most of this money stays right here at Muir, while $3.80 pays for membership in the National, California, and District PTA's and in the 33rd District PTA Council.
Volunteering Parent help is greatly needed and appreciated both by the school staff and by the children. There are options to suit the schedule of every family. Full-time working parents might consider the Saturday morning Art + Antique Fair, or a job that can be done from home or office, e.g., managing the parent e-mail database. You can volunteer by filling out the PTA Volunteer Form sent home in September (copies available in the school office) or by contacting one of the committee chairpersons listed on page 19. To volunteer in the classroom, speak to your child's teacher. Classroom and playground volunteers must undergo a TB test, which the school nurse can administer.
